# Chat & history

> Typed chat, voice transcripts, and past sessions.

# Chat & history

You can talk to the coach by **voice** or type in the chat dock.

## Active conversation

During a session, messages appear in the interaction hub:

* Your spoken turns (transcribed)
* Coach replies (transcribed)
* Guide cards from research / tool results

The active thread is saved in the browser so a **refresh** does not wipe the conversation mid-job.

## History

When you start a **New chat** or **End session**, Skill3D can archive the conversation to **History** on that device.

* History is stored locally in the browser (not a full cloud transcript sync).
* Guide cards may be omitted from archives; user and assistant turns are kept.
* Resuming a past session loads those messages back into the active thread.

## Typed vs voice

| Input          | Behavior                                     |
| -------------- | -------------------------------------------- |
| Voice          | Hands-free; best on the job                  |
| Typed chat     | Precise questions, links, attachments        |
| Slash commands | Advanced OpenClaw / agent paths when enabled |

## Milestones vs chat

**Milestones are not the chat log.** Verified work is recorded server-side when the verification flow completes. Chat History is for your conversation; milestones are for completed, verified outcomes. See [Milestones](/guides/milestones).
